Japan’s economy grew by 1.1% in the fourth quarter

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Japan grew at an annual rate of 4.6% between October and December 2009, above forecasts of analysts, the Japanese government reported today. Industrial production accelerated its fall again with a decrease of 2.5% in January

The General Industrial Production Index (IPI) in January fell 2.5%, adjusted data for calendar effects, which accelerated its decline for the first time since June on weak consumer spending after the fall of 1.4 % in December. Thus, the production finished with 21 consecutive monthly falls.
